ABOUT ME
My name is Elana Solomon. I am a National Board Certified Teacher who works at the Masterman Demonstration and Laboratory High School in Philadelphia. I have been in education for more than 25 years. I have 3 Masters degrees (Elementary Ed, 7-12 Social Studies and Administration). I have been helping students one on one for more than twenty years and have extensive experience with the college application process. I have worked with students from Masterman, Central, SLA, Radnor, Springfield Township School District, Upper Dublin, Abington, CS South, CB East, Pennsburry, Plymouth-Whitemarsh and Wissahickon. All students have been accepted into multiple universities and colleges, from ivy league to local state and private institutions. I am looking forward to helping your child through the entire process and ultimately get accepted into the school of their dreams!
ABOUT KICK OFF 2 COLLEGE
The Common Application opens August 1. It’s not just about picking the right school. Navigating the application process is tough. It is not over when the Common Application is complete. The best way to start is to create a good resume. This will be helpful when colleges ask for letters of recommendation. Then there is the Common Application essay, and some students may need to fill out one of the two additional essays that are optional to explain family circumstances, IEP's, illness and more. There are also supplemental questions, some in the form of additional essays. Students may need to submit SAT or ACT scores to those requiring them. Some colleges also ask students to self-report grades directly through their websites. It is a tricky process to navigate. Kick Off 2 College is here to help.
